I feel bad but I can't say much about "The Year of Pleasures." It was our book club selection for September. We met last Thursday (when I finished the book about 20 minutes before we met) and I have already forgotten the book. Hmmm, that can't be good. I will say this about the book ... it did NOT lead to good discussion within our group. Whether that is all the book's fault or our group's fault, I'm not sure. I think the book did have some good parts though, I just can't remember them. Oh well.

I will have to say that I think it is the group's fault - not the books. I think this book was great and would have normally been a great discussion book. (btw I love our book group - we are just a little lazy on the actual "book" part!)
I enjoyed the glimpse into the character's life. Her ups and downs. Her trials and her triumphs. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick, yet deep(ish) read.
