question

Hi reading friends. I want to take this opportunity to ask a question of our readers (and friends of readers...send your friends a link).

Question: Do you keep a book journal? What type (in a traditional journal? online? both? on your computer?) of journal? And second part of the question...What do you document in your journal?

I will answer myself (and Cheryl will too...right Cheryl?) in a few days.

Thanks for taking the time to answer!

A good idea... I don't keep a book journal, but I probably should. I've occasionally (recently) mentioned great books on my blog, but I really read far more books than I share (many of while are recommended from this site).

I did recently start a "book journal" or sorts as a blog for the books I read to the children (especially the ones we love), so that we'll remember faves and so other people can read our great finds too!

Thanks for commenting Katrina. I added your library blog on my sidebar, but will put it here somewhere too!

I keep track of my books both on Goodreads.com and through a blog. I don't write reviews very often unless a book is really special. I can generally read the publisher's blurb and recall the general plot.

I don't like the way Goodreads sorts my books, so I also track them on my blog by month and year. I number them so that at the end of the year I'll know how many I've read. I always aim for at least 52, so that I will have read 1 book/week for the year. I've yet to even come close to falling short of that goal. :-)

Thanks Angie. I like Good Reads. I do wish they had a way to sort in other ways (for example by date)...

I will put your book blog list on our sidebar! (and I think I do recall you get way over 52 each year...)

Happy Reading!

I don't know if you'd call what I keep a journal exactly. It's just a notebook where I keep track of the books I read. I only note it (with a star) if the book is SUPER or with a BC if it's a book club book. That's it. I don't keep track of books I start & don't finish though. I've only been doing this for the last 1 1/2 years, so I'm a little late to the game ... especially considering I've been a huge reader my whole life. Oh well, better late than never.

I don't keep a journal or anything like that but I do have a little notebook that I put the book, author and date finished in. I have been doing that for 3 yrs or so. However, I misplaced the darn thing earlier this year and will start a new one in Jan. I also keep track of my books on Facebook in their application for books (can't remember what it is called).

Thanks Cheryl and Angie.

I think that writing down your books, date and if you like them...is exactly what a book journal is.

Fantastic! Glad you shared.

Obviously, I don't keep a journal. "Um Jerrie, have I read this one?" or I start a book and realize half way through that I have read it.
Once upon a time i have a journal but I quit...

So, Tami? I am your book journal? That is nice of me! :) haha! Thanks for sharing!
